Audio Vision
SMU Lyle School of Engineering 2017 Senior Design Competition Winner (1 of 3 selected)

A partner and I used a 3D mapping sensor, 3D printed holder, and iPhone to develop a system that turned objects in front of a user into audio cues. The design process included building a simulator of the system in Python for users to test the process without the possibility for physical danger. Our system would survey the physical field in front of the device and turn objects at certain intervals (3’, 6’, 9’, … from the user) into audio sounds of differing magnitude and tone. Our end device only used magnitude as a source of differentiating heights as difference tone provided issues coming from user’s ability to interpret different frequencies.
